Abstract

The dengue epidemic currently affecting the Lambayeque department has set a historic record in terms of the number of diagnosed dengue patients compared to previous years. Additionally, numerous complications such as hemorrhages, multiorgan failure, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) have been observed. This is why the case of a 60-year-old patient with sensory impairment and ARDS as the main complication is presented. Initially, she was treated at a private clinic and later referred to the Lambayeque Regional Hospital, where she was immediately assisted in the emergency department. After a few days, she showed mild recovery. However, after 10 days of symptoms with warning signs, she was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital for ARDS management.
