Abstract

The constant advances and developments in open source hardware and software open the opportunity to generate new academic tools for teaching and learning experimental mechanics. Even though the open source software and hardware resources are not fully similar or equivalent to the professional equipment, these alternatives are affordable and effective enough to give to the young engineers a formative introduction to the correct use of the professional analyzers. In this work, we propose the use of open source hardware and software resources integrated in an experimental rotor bearing system used for teaching fundamentals of vibration analysis.
