Abstract
The article analyzes the popular Russian singer Lydia Ruslanova's performance of traditional Volga ditties accompanied by Saratov harmonica. Due to the peculiarities of the areal tradition in the Saratov Volga region, a special ditty style of performance to the Saratov harmonica was formed, which made this genre a special symbolic phenomenon and formed a definite “ideal of sounding” of the region’s traditional culture.
