Abstract

A correction procedure has been established for the instrumental radioactivation analysis of selenium in dialyzed biological materials, by means of the 19-sec isotope Se 77m. Based on the oxygen content of samples, the procedure has enabled a more accurate and sensitive determination than previous methods utilizing Se 77m for analysis of selenium in such a matrix. The amounts of selenium bound to protein in various fractions of human blood and other tissues were investigated using the technique.
