Abstract

Nearly 40 neutron beam instruments are now in routine operation at the thermal neutron research reactor of the trinational Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France. They are run in a highly automated way by a 3-level system : Dedicated, on-site instrument control and data acquisition electronics systems (level 1), and dedicated, on-site minicomputers (level 2) which are linked to the central scientific computer (level 3).
