Abstract

Steve Michael is at the University of Alaska and Edward Holdaway and Clifton Young are at the University of Alberta. In this paper, they challenge the validity of criticisms against post- secondary institutions' inablity to respond to challenges facing them as business organisations would. They argue that criticisms of this kind are often made without reference to the constraints within which post-secondary institutions operate. They conclude that administrators should, nevertheless, explore creative ways of enhancing institutional responsiveness.
