Abstract

The “Institut fur Strahlwerkzeuge” was founded in spring 1986 by the appointment of Professor Hugel as its director to build this new institution. Although its name indicates a dedication to beam processing technologies in general, the objective is to perform research in the field of laser technology, only. In particular, the task to be assumed aims at assisting the industry in introducing laser materials processing as a new production technology.
