Instigation and Development of Data Science

Abstract

Data science is the vastest factor that is widely used in different sectors like social media, industries, and educational institutions in a unique manner. In this chapter, the authors have introduced data science and its processes like setting research goals, retrieving the data, preparation of the data, exploration of data, data modeling, presentation, and automation of the project that is undertaken for making a successful project. The authors have explained the data science life cycle which consists of six stages: capture, preparation, maintenance, process or preprocess, analysis, and communication. The authors have also discussed the relationship between data science and machine learning followed by applications of machine learning in data science. Machine learning algorithms like K-means clustering, regression, and decision trees are mainly used for solving problems that are raised in data science. The authors have also explored the tools that are used in data science. There are many benefits of data science for analyzing the data of different projects in an efficient manner. So, in this chapter, a brief idea about data science is stated.
