Abstract

The phenomenon of the ambiguity of the Coulomb gauge in Yang-Mills theories, first discovered by Gribov, is studied for the instanton solutions. It is shown that in the Coulomb gauge the instanton connects a non-vanishing transverse pure gauge field in the remote (Euclidean) past to an analogous one in the far future.
