Abstract
A reactive power compensation method that is valid for both single-phase and three-phase AC circuits is proposed. with this method, reactive power components can be instantaneously defined and compensated for. The instantaneous values of voltages and the currents of fundamental components and time derivatives are used to calculate the reactive power components. A digital bandpass filter is used to eliminate the harmonic components of currents. Digital simulations verify the validity of the method. >
