Abstract

This paper presents a novel Instantaneous Frequency (IF) estimation technique based on Signal separation and Wigner distribution (WD). WD is widely used for IF estimation of mono-component signals Proposed technique extends WD based IF estimation technique to multi-component signals. The Proposed technique decomposes a signal into its components using a hybrid image processing and fractional filtering based technique. WD with adaptive data driven window length is then used for instantaneous frequency estimation of mono-component separated signal components. Experiment results demonstrate that proposed scheme performs reasonably well for moderate to high Signal to Noise ratios (SNR).
