Abstract

Reitz: There are three central computer systems at the Tele-Computer Center. Of the three the Univac System is the oldest. It was originally installed in December '62 and consisted of 1-32K Univac 490 Computer, 1 high speed drum, communication peripherals and the usual complement of tapes, printers, drums, etc. The system was installed to replace the AT&T 81-D-1 manual message switching operation, centralize order processing and inventory control systems, and provide facilities for the corporate accounting function.
