Abstract

The growth rate of a parallel electrostatic dust-cyclotron (EDC) surface wave propagating in a uniform magnetized dusty plasma containing ions drifting along the external magnetic field lines is investigated. To derive the growth rate, we employ the Vlasov-Poisson system and the specular reflection boundary conditions. The EDC surface wave is found to be unstable when the ion drift velocity is larger than the phase velocity of the wave. The wave is also found to be more unstable if the dust particles carry more negative charges.
