Abstract

The model two-wave equation for weakly nonlinear long waves on a liquid film moving along an inclined plane under the effect of gravity and gas flow is derived on the basis of an integral approach. The linear stability of a liquid film flowing concurrently or countercurrently with a gas stream is studied over a wide range of regime parameters. It is found that the dispersive curve has two branches which interact with one another under certain conditions.
