Abstract

Random chaotic relaxation oscillation burst generations have been observed in laser-diode-pumped microchip multimode lasers coupled to a single-mode optical ber. Dynamical characterizations have been carried out by the singular value decomposition method and the joint time-frequency analysis, and the observed instability has been identi ed to be a random switching between stable and chaotic operation. @S1050-2947~99!50511-8#
