Abstract
Abstract Under the influence of an external perturbation the behaviour of a superconductor may change drastically. Discontinuous transitions may take place or the order parameter may vary in space. The structure and stability of the dissipative states is investigated for several types of perturbations. The role of quasiparticle diffusion is examined. A detailed comparison of various theoretical and experimental results is made.
