Abstract

The article analyzes a new and innovative phenomenon in the Bulgarian education system - the inspection of the quality of education. The reasons that necessitated the changes to the Bulgarian legislation, which led to the introduction of inspection as a method for assessing the quality of education, have been consistently examined; the specifics of the state educational standards for assessing the quality of Bulgarian education and the changes that have occurred in them have been brought out. The social "portrait" of inspection is built through the prism of the mission and goals of the national inspectorate of education and the norms of the state educational standard for inspection while using examples of different educational paradigms from the theory and practice of established European educational systems.
