Abstract

A two-step sol-gel method was developed with hydrochloride as an acid catalyst for the hydrolysis process and hexamethylenetetramine as base catalyst for the synthesis of terbium and europium coordination polymers with picotinic acid. Luminescent europium and terbium coordination polymers with picotinic acid were incorporated in silica gel/polymer hybrid matrix. In the range of concentration of luminescent species (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 wt %), emission intensity increases with the increase of composition concentration, and no concentration quenching takes place.
