Abstract

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are recruited and rewired by cancer cells to become protumorigenic. The molecular mechanisms underlying this crosstalk in esophageal cancer are completely unknown. Chen etal. discover that premalignant epithelial cells of the esophagus rewire normal resident fibroblasts into CAFs through the downregulation of ANXA1-FRP2 signaling.
