Abstract

Effective conservation of migratory species depends on understanding how their populations are influenced by conditions across multiple ecosystems. In this issue, Wilson et al. link changes in freshwater and marine environments to declines of salmonid fishes in a river flowing from the coastal temperate rainforest of British Columbia. Quantifying the factors influencing these fish declines provides insight into policy actions that might aid recovery, such as changes in forest management.
