Abstract

The Draft of General Educational Curriculum in 2017 defined that natural science competence is one of the specialized capabilities in the core competence system that needs to be formed and developed for junior secondary school students. The results of a survey of teachers in Chemistry, Physics and Biology at 29 junior secondary schools show that teachers are initially interested in the structure of the natural science competences. However, the results also reveal that teachers have difficulties in determining the natural science competence and their manifestations. This contribution will be the basis for the proposal of specific manifestation system as well as for the development of a set of tools for assessing the competence system to improve the teaching and learning quality of natural sciences for teachers and students at junior secondary schools in the coming period.
