Abstract

The aim of this article is to provide an insight into the evolution of risk management in Poland, with respect to global trends. The study re-uses available survey results in order to reveal similarities and differences between Poland and a global benchmark. The analysis is made with three areas of concern: (i) drivers of risk management implementation and their expected outcomes; (ii) approaches to risk identification and (iii) organisation of risk management. The empirical findings are preceded by an outline of the most relevant facts of the evolution of risk management thought and practice in Poland, with a link to the globally evolutionary context. It was found that in many aspects the differences between Polish and global benchmarks are not so obvious as they may seem, taking into account the relatively short post-transition history of Poland.
