Abstract

This paper poses the question whether insider trading should be legalized. The paper proceeds to introduce the work of the academic father of insider trading, Henry G. Manne, and proceeds to introduce his critics arguments before ending with a surprising conclusion. There is no right or wrong answer to the prudence of legalizing insider trading; rather, it’s a choice society must make by weighing its preferences for market efficiency versus market fairness.
