Abstract
International commerce has focused attention on the legal systems of the large trading nations that form the Pacific Rim. Less studied are the myriad Pacific island nations. What is the source of their law? What are their court systems like? The author set out by ship to explore three representative South Pacific legal systems: those of French Polynesia, the Kingdom of Tonga, and the Republic of Fiji.
