Abstract

Asymmetric conjugate addition of bis(pinacolato)diboron to α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds would provide easy access to enantioenriched functionalized organoboron compounds, which are useful intermediates in organic synthesis. In their Communication on page 145 ff., J.-E. Lee and J. Yun describe the enantioselective β-boration of α,β-unsaturated esters and nitriles using a copper catalyst and planar chiral diphosphine ligands.
