Abstract

Chalcogen bonding (ChB) is a type of σ-hole interaction between a Group 16 chalcogen atom bearing electron-withdrawing groups and a Lewis base. In their Research Article (e202116071), Xiang-Yu Chen, Zhi-Xiang Wang, and co-workers show that ChB of alkynyl sulfonium salts enables the generation of alkynyl radicals for the synthesis of a variety of chalcogenoacetylenes with diselenides under blue-light irradiation.
