Abstract

For the next generation of deep-ultraviolet nonlinear optical materials, fluorooxoborates have been considered to be highly promising. In their Communication on page 6095 ff. S. Pan and co-workers prepare the first asymmetric alkaline-earth-metal fluorooxoborate, SrB5O7F3, with the unprecedented [B5O9F3]6− fundamental building block, which was rationally designed and synthesized as a potential deep-ultraviolet nonlinear optical material.
