Abstract

Flying elephants and delicate cargo: Electrospray ionization of proteins has been likened to making molecular elephants fly. Helen J. Cooper and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/anie.202202075) demonstrate mass spectrometry detection and imaging of a non-covalent complex formed in vivo, comprising an endogenous protein and an exogenously administered drug molecule, directly from liver tissue. These methods will provide greater insight into protein–drug complexes in support of drug research and development.
