Abstract
The global atlas of bacterial aromatic polyketides is reported by Lihan Zhang and co-workers in their Research Article (e202202286). By pan-genomic analysis of the biosynthetic gene clusters of type II polyketide synthases, the global distribution, abundance, and structural diversity of the aromatic polyketides were assessed. The study also provides insight for the molecular evolution of aromatic polyketides and serves as a compass for future discoveries of this class of natural products.
