Abstract
This article describes a workshop procedure for inservice training of Head Start staffs who work with children with communication disorders. In addition to a traditional focus on developmental norms and referral criteria, the workshops stressed the communicative nature of the adult-child relationship and provided the staffs with information about and practice in using specific communicative behaviors. Special role-playing techniques were designed to allow participants to develop their interactive skills.
