Abstract

Considering that the Family Health Program is an important instrument of change in Mental Health Care as it provides greater user-family-professional linkage, this study aimed at presenting part of the experience that marked the beginning of our activities in the Family Health Program by conducting Mental Health Awareness Workshops involving two teams in the Program. All the Community Health Agents and some members of other teams participated in the activities. The workshops themselves showed us their significance. They were evaluated by the participants as important events for the deconstruction of previous established concepts, confirmed the multiplicity of the challenge to be faced, and directed the need for sequential actions in the Mental Health area of the Family Health Program.
