Abstract

Four strains of green peach aphid were collected in 1976–77 from peaches and potatoes at Bathurst (B2) and Yanco (Y), New South Wales, Atherton (A), Queensland, and Cobram (C), Victoria. The strains were resistant to DDT (10–21x) but susceptible to lindane and dieldrin. Strains B2, Y, A, and C were resistant to pyrethrin, permethrin, and d-phenothrin (4–15x). The B2 strain was of low resistance to methyl parathion, acephate, and diazinon (2.4–3.8x) but susceptible to methamidophos. Strain Y was moderately resistant to methyl parathion (14x), acephate (8.1x), diazinon (8.6x) and of low resistance to methamidophos (3x). Strains A and C were highly resistant to methyl parathion (47x and 51x, respectively) and moderately resistant to acephate (9.1x and 9.1x, respectively) and diazinon (7.4x and 15x, respectively). A and C also were resistant to methamidophos (7.6x and 3.1x, respectively). The 4 OP resistant strains showed no resistance to the carbamates pirimicarb and methomyl.
