Abstract

Content centric network (CCN) has been regarded as one of the most promising architecture solution for the future Internet, which has great advantages in support of content delivery services, such as Video-on-demand (VoD) application. Although there are some existing models proposed for the cache performance in CCN router, few of them consider the case of video request traffic. In this paper, we focus on this issue, and investigate the steady state performance of the in-router cache system under a serial of continuous VoD requests. Without loss of generalization, we adopt a simplest kind of caching policy, i.e. threshold-based caching, in our model. In our simulation, we firstly study the caching performance with regular synthetic VoD request traffic, and then extent to the irregular random VoD request traffic. The simulation results show the existence of steady-state performance of CCN router. This conclusion will be helpful for the design of CCN caching policy for the future VoD applications.
