Abstract

The last few years have presented an optimistic scenario for the adhesive tape industry on international scale. However, producers are being challenged to keep their operational structure competitive. Market demands and regulatory requirements also add increasing pressure for more sustainable products and more efficient production logistics processes. In this context, the present work evaluates the state of the art in innovation and environmental sustainability trends in the adhesive tapesindustry. Such environmental sustainability evaluation comprehended water usage in production processes, use of renewable electricity, CO2 emissions, use of organic solvents, waste recycling from the production process and circular economy initiatives by the main producers in this industrial field. These indicators are those that have been worked on by companies in the market and are in line with studies being carried out in the academic field.
