Abstract

Pressure effects on the photochemical reactions of transition metal complexes in solution are discussed to demonstrate the information that can be obtained on the dynamics of the excited state species. Special attention is given to photochemical substitution, charge transfer, and isomerization reactions, and typical examples are discussed in each case. A critical evaluation is given to emphasize the limitations of this method at the present stage.
