Abstract

Innovativeness and transformational leadership are characteristics that may enable nurse leaders to respond to today's rapidly changing healthcare landscape. This study was focused on describing innovativeness among nurse leaders and the relationship between innovativeness and transformational leadership. A descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional design was used; 97 nurse leaders participated. Contact was through a web-enabled survey posted to the American Nurses Association of New York website and social media platforms. A majority of the nurse leaders rated themselves as innovative and there was a significant relationship between innovativeness and transformational leadership. Programs to enhance both innovativeness and transformational leadership are recommended.
