Abstract

Quick start-up is one of the pending problems of SOFCs. Sensitive temperature control is needed for rapid start-up. An innovative system for the management of SOFC stack temperatures has been developed and will be presented at the conference. Four elements are part of the system: heated bipolar plates, thermocouples in the geometric stack center, power supply to the heaters and temperature control. Stacks can be heated in a few minutes. The innovative solution (patents pending) offers significant advantages over conventional methods of stack heating.
