Abstract

Cultural heritage assets are a substantial element for the development of societies. This development supports the organization in social, economic, and political aspects. Besides, it is essential that using cultural heritage assets in the tourism industry affects society. Countries exist in the world with their own cultures and introduce themselves to other nations through their culture. During touristic visits, preserving, management in a sustainable manner, making a compelling presentation of the cultural heritage to the visitors gain more importance in the globalization world. Primarily held cultural heritage assets can provide a practical resource for digital representation. Digital technologies supply different opportunities for cultural assets to sustain the traditional functions of cultural assets by providing and preserving them. In addition to this, they offer new information services for users. Conservation and documentation of cultural heritage values are the essential steps before meeting with the visitors. Presentation of cultural heritage assets can be supplied with the preserved cultural heritage assets. Both at these stages, innovative digital ideas should be used. Presenting existing cultural heritage assets in line with digital possibilities to the new generation of tourists or digital tourists intertwined with the digital world and potential future tourists will ensure that the cultural heritage takes a sustainable and influential role in the tourism industry. This research aims to demonstrate the importance of the presentation of cultural heritage through innovative digital ideas which contribute to the continuity of effective and sustainable role of cultural heritage values for the new generation of tourists and to show the effects of creative digital presentation of cultural heritage assets on the visitors’ travel experiences. For this purpose, in this study, the existing innovative digital applications in museums, historical and cultural areas, and sites in which the cultural heritage values get together with visitors are examined and how these applications increase the tourist experiences, which is one of the essential purposes of tourism travels has been tried to be put forward with examples from the literature.
