Abstract
A Closely packed 4×4 large MIMO Antenna Array with Low Mutual Coupling for 5 G BTS Application is featured innovative design and study. Two chamfered bow-tie dipole antenna elements are placed in orthogonal orientation and fed with two coaxial cables, achieving dual polarization. The architecture consists of chamfering the two arms of bow-tie antennas that improve port isolation to port. The pattern of unidirectional radiation is obtained by placing a metal ground plane at a distance of λ0/4. The radiating elements are intended for operation at 3.5 GHz. Simulated results of the expected dual-polarized chamfered bowtie antenna exhibit a sub-6GHz bandwidth (2.8–4.0 GHz) with VSWR < 1.5. Isolation between the two ports is −27dB and mutual coupling is around-25 dB and for both the polarization a gain of 9.1dBi is observed. The aerial overall height is 0.25λ0 and the design is simple and easy to manufacture. This new design is thus a perfect candidate for the new 5 G BTS applications.
