Abstract

Abstract Esso/BHP has used innovative approaches to drilling high angle wells up to 72° average angle on its Snapper platform in Bass Strait. Drillstring designs, bit selection, hole conditioning, fishing, cementing and completion techniques have been reevaluated for innovation and cost-effectiveness. These techniques were used to make a comprehensive redrill program technically and economically viable.
