Abstract
This report summarizes the events of the Transportation Research Board Second Symposium on Innovations in Freight Demand Modeling and Data, held on October 21-22, 2013 in Herndon, Virginia. The symposium provided key insights into the progress of innovative freight modeling approaches as recommended by the Freight Demand Modeling and Data Improvement Strategic Plan. Sessions highlighted: state department of transportation freight modeling; regional/urban tour modeling; international models; private-sector supply-chain decision making; freight data innovations; and business implications.
