Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to design a blow out preventer (BOP) transport equipment. The design of this transport equipment must be as efficient as possible at a low cost. This designed equipment must be able to withstand the load without deforming or breaking. This process begins with the creation of a 3D geometry model which is then transformed into a finite element model. Three design models of the BOP transport skid were made using the Inventor 2014 software. After selecting the best model using pugh’s concept selection, a computer-aided design (CAD) model was created, followed by the creation of finite element models. The FEM models with three different materials had been created and analyzed. The materials used were ASTM 53, ASTM A 36, and Aluminum 6063. The models made were then analyzed for deflections and stresses that occur due to the given load. The results showed that the ASTM A53 material and the selected dimensions could be used for the BOP transport equipment because it meets the required conditions.KeywordsBOPFinite elementTransport skid
