Abstract

Innovation takes strength as a possible solution for the organizations thrive in a turbulent market. The video game market, strongly linked to new technologies, is highly competitive. Nintendo led the global video game market with NES and SuperNintendo in 90s. However, their later releases were not enough to maintain the leadership of the past in the face of new competitors such as the Playstation (Sony) and the Xbox (Microsoft). Its market leadership was only resumed after the launch of the Wii console, with its innovative way of play, which resulted in big sales and the emergence of a never-before-buying public interested in this type of product. The aim of this paper is to study in the standpoint of innovation, which have contributed to the success of the Nintendo Wii console and helped Nintendo to return to the rank of number 1 in the world of videogames.
