Abstract

The traumatologic operation technique is reported over a time period of 21 years. Concerning the treatment of the intertrochanteric femur fracture, a development from the Ender nailing to the dynamic hip screw treatments. In a recent study investigating 217 dynamic hip screws treatments, 4.5% implant-specific complications were found. In the 1970s, fractures of the radius almost exclusively were treated conservatively, nowadays in most cases they are treated operatively. There was a change in the treatment of instable fractures of the spine during the study period: from the conservative treatment with a plaster cast immobilisation for months, the plate osteosynthesis, to the application of an internal fixation, the `fixateur interne'. The recent results of the ‘fixateur interne’ application in instable vertebral fractures do not justify the replacing of the dorsal by the combined dorso-ventral approach.
