Abstract

Many professionals who studied in dietetics programs as recently as 10 years ago can remember a time when they typed papers on a typewriter and stood in long lines to register for classes. “Things are changing quickly,” observes Sandra S. Witte, PhD, RD, department chair and didactic program coordinator for the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at California State University, Fresno (CSUF). As chair of the Dietetic Educators of Practitioners (DEP) dietetic practice group, Witte has an excellent vantage point on how teaching techniques are evolving in this field: “We see this as a very exciting, dynamic time for dietetics education,” she notes.
