Abstract
Light and electron microscope observations of the air sacs of the larva ofCorethra (Chaoborus)plumicornis reveal a network of nerve fibres scattered amongst the epithelium. In the axoplasma, accumulations of vesicles (synaptoid) are found. The arrangement and structure of these nervous elements make it possible to discuss the physiological colour change ofCorethra in terms of a double control mechanism.
