Abstract
The sunflower maggot, Strauzia longipennis (Wied.), occurs throughout the sunflower growing area of Manitoba and in most years infests a very high percentage of sunflower plants. However, injury by the maggot, to the pith of the sunflower stalk, has no apparent effect on head diameter, seed yield, number of unformed seeds or seed set of the plant.
