Abstract

Various injuries inflicted by animals in North Sumatra and in Uganda are described and their treatment outlined. These injuries ranged from snake bites to lion and tiger attacks and buffalo gorings. No anti-venom serum was administered to 346 patients with cobra bites, none of whom showed any symptoms of neurotoxic poisoning, and all made an uneventful recovery. In no case did an animal attack without first being threatened, intentionally or otherwise.
