Abstract

T WENTY-FIVE years ago a surgical Outpatient Department and varicose ulcers were inseparable companions; every surgical clinic had a large number of them. The only way in which these ulcers could be cured was by a long period of rest in bed, or possibly by surgical removal of the veins when the ulcer was healed. This for most people was quite out of the question. Patients are now cured of their varicose veins and ulcers, seldom losing any time from their work. The injection method has distinct advantages over the treatment by operation. There is practically no loss of time, no hospitalization, no anesthetic, less expense, with consequent economic benefit to the patient.
