Abstract

Using tetrahedra as image basis in tomography has potentially beneficial consequences for industrial CT, especially when the shape of the piece to be scanned is known a priory. This work explores how voxel-based and tetrahedra-based images compare in the limited angle CT case, using iterative algorithms with and without boundary masking. The study shows that the tetrahedrabased image reconstruction can discriminate surface features with more detail than the voxel-based image.
